Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is seeking a Wardsperson for The Sutherland Hospital in Caringbah, Sydney. This temporary part-time role supports patient care 32 hours per week with an hourly rate of A$32.50–A$32.73 plus superannuation.

The role requires effective communication, teamwork, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, with a rotating 24/7 roster and a commitment to safety and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated effective communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and unsupervised.
• Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills.
• Demonstrated effective problem solving skills.
• Sound understanding of and commitment to Work Health and Safety Procedures.
• Possession of a current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain.
• Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• To provide high quality care that is customer focused to the patient/clients and carers of The Sutherland Hospital.
• Communicate effectively and with respect at all times.
• To work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary health team care delivery.
• Act as advocate to establish and maintain patients’ autonomy.
• To maintain and promote a professional standard of practice, adherence to the policies and standards of SESLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.
• Assist with patient care as directed by nursing staff e.g. patient lifting, showering and personal care.
• Transport patients to and from treatment and diagnostic areas as required, using a bed mover if patient is transported in a bed.
• Assist Nursing Staff with the transfer of deceased patients to the Mortuary.
