Job summary

Mackay Hospital and Health Service in Proserpine invites applications for a Wardsperson at Proserpine Hospital. This permanent role provides 24/7 ward support to clinical staff and patients, including cleaning, waste removal, patient handling and transport of equipment and linen.

Based in Proserpine, you will work with Team Leader, Supervisors and the Operational Services team to ensure smooth hospital operations. Flexibility, teamwork and a commitment to safe patient care are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting ward operations in a hospital setting.
• Strong teamwork and communication with multi-disciplinary staff.
• Ability to perform cleaning, waste management and patient handling tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 ward support including cleaning, waste removal, and transport of patients and equipment.
• Support Team Leader, Supervisors and Manager of Operational Services with daily tasks.
• Assist with linen handling, catering and theatre support as required.

The Proserpine Hospital is seeking applications for a Wardsperson to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

This position will be responsible for providing a 24 hour / 7-day week support service for multi-disciplinary staff and patient care including cleaning, removal of waste, patient handling, transportation of patients, equipment, linen and materials around the hospital. This position will also be required to work with and provide support and advice to Team Leader, Supervisors and/or Manager of Operational Services.

About the Team

The Whitsunday Health Service is made up of two facilities: The Community Health Campus – Cannonvale and the Hospital Campus – Proserpine. The hospital is a 33-bed acute hospital, which offers a number of specialty inpatient and outpatient services. The Community Health Campus offers a range of Community Health services provided by a multi-disciplinary team.

Operational Services provides and co-ordinates a diverse range of services that support the clinical divisions in the delivery of patient centred health care at Proserpine Hospital. The department consists of the following keys areas: Cleaning Services, Wardsperson Services, Waste Management, Grounds and Gardens, Laundry, Catering and Theatre support.
