Job summary

Murrumbidgee Local Health District is seeking a Wardsperson at Cootamundra Hospital to provide patient support with personal hygiene, transfers, and the movement of ward supplies, helping clinical staff deliver daily care.

This role offers a pathway to Health and Security Assistant duties and operates on a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, requiring physical activity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Wardsperson or in a patient care role.
• Understanding of infection control policies.
• Able to read and follow instructions and policies.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary, patient-focused team.
• Willingness to work 7 day rotating roster.
• Hold National Police Check and NSW Working With Children Check.
• Vaccination Category A is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with hygiene, transfers and transportation.
• Prepare deceased patients for transfer to mortuary and support viewings.
• Move bed and equipment safely; manage medical gas cylinders.
• Transport pathology specimens, X-rays and equipment.
• Perform routine ward housekeeping duties.
• Work in Emergency and ICU to support major trauma patients.
