About the role:

Daily duties include transporting patients and equipment, moving beds, replenishing linen and supplies, removing waste, and providing cleaning support when required. The role may also involve assisting with rapid-response activities and transferring deceased patients to the mortuary in accordance with hospital procedures.

The Wardsperson works under clinical direction when supporting patient movements and must follow hospital procedures, infection prevention requirements and safe manual-handling practices. The position has no direct reports and reports to the Wardsperson Supervisor or nominated operational manager.

About you:

The ideal candidate is dependable, respectful and calm, with a helpful approach to patients, visitors and colleagues. They communicate clearly, work well as part of a team and can also manage tasks independently. They take safety seriously, follow instructions and procedures, and are willing to raise concerns when something is unsafe or unclear.

Most crucial from the outset: reliability, respectful communication, sound judgement, teamwork, and a willingness to follow safe work practices. Candidates need to be able to meet the role's inherent physical requirements, with reasonable adjustments considered where applicable.

hospital-specific procedures, equipment and systems, local workflows, and detailed knowledge of infection prevention and patient-transfer processes. Relevant experience is valuable, but a willingness to learn is essential.
