St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital (SAWMH) in Spring Hill is seeking a Ward Registered Medical Officer for a limited hours hospital call role supported by a 24/7 ICU team. Shifts run 08:00–24:00 weekdays and 08:00–18:00 weekends, with public holidays included.

The Ward RMO will perform ward rounds, coordinate care with ICU staff, and engage in pre-admission reviews for open-heart cases, under supervision of Medical Services leadership.

Qualificações

• Current accreditation in Advanced Life Support (ACLS) is essential.
• Familiarity with Cardiac Advance Life Support (CALS) guidelines is highly recommended.
• Experience with ward rounds and ICU coordination is desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Perform a general ward round of the hospital wards at least once per shift.
• Communicate significant changes in a patient’s condition to the admitting VMO.
• Arrange initial investigations and start treatment in consultation with the admitting VMO.
• Attend all MERT calls and arrange an appropriate management plan with the admitting VMO.
• Attend CODE BLUE calls in conjunction with the ICU team.
• Attend ward rounds led by ICU specialists.
• Liaise with treating VMOs as appropriate.
• Assist with unit educational programs.
• Perform ICU pre-admissions on open-heart surgical cases and percutaneous valves.
• Perform post-ICU discharge reviews of patients discharged to the wards.
• Clinical handover of patients of concern to the Ward RMO on the next shift or to the ICU RMO.
