The Royal Flying Doctor Service in New South Wales is seeking a dedicated Patient Transport Officer on a full-time basis to safely transport patients by road and provide compassionate care during transit.
Key requirements include Cert III in Non-Emergency Patient Care or Diploma of Nursing (paramedic students considered), availability for 10–12 hour shifts across 7 days, and a valid Australian driver's licence with comprehensive background checks. Base rate: $30.77/hr.
When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.
Patient Transport offers Non-Emergency Patient Transport across Victoria and some areas of New South Wales. We work with a large fleet of ambulances and support our transport services with RFDS aircraft. Patient Transport provides clinical care for people travelling from home to hospital, hospital to hospital and hospital to home, as well as transport to and from specialist clinics.
As a PTO, you will be responsible for the safe and courteous transportation of patients with a variety of medical conditions. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring comfort and care during transit.
This full-time role offers a base rate of $30.77/hr, plus salary packaging, penalties, allowances, and superannuation.
All applicants must undergo a driver history and demerit point check, at compliance stage. To be successful, you must not have repeated driving offences within the last three years. In addition, all positions are subject to a National Police Check and require holding a valid Working with Children Check.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service, Victoria, is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from individuals of underrepresented backgrounds to apply, including but not limited to, those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse and LGBTQI communities.
