Pay Rate - HPA (support stream), Level 6: $35.69/hr

About the Program

The hEP program is funded by the Australian Federal Government and is a nationally recognised leader in youth mental health, delivering evidence-based, recovery-oriented services. Our model of care is grounded in the renowned Orygen EPPIC (Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre) framework, ensuring world-class early intervention for young people.

The program is structured across three specialist teams:

• Mobile Assessment & Treatment Team (MATT)
• Continuing Care Team (CCT)
• Functional Recovery Team (FRT)

About you in the role

This role sits within the Functional Recovery team, and is responsible for providing career development advice, vocational and employment assistance to young people with a mental illness, in tandem with the program’s clinical team, to ensure young people can achieve and maintain sustainable participation in vocational education and employment.

You’ll play a vital role in supporting and empowering young people through their recovery journey!

About You

• Actively manage a caseload of young people, to assist young job seekers identify their educational and employment goals.
• Co-design career profiles and individual Vocational Plans with young people, with input from the young person’s clinical team
• Provide education, vocation and employment support in conjunction individually and in group settings with a young person’s clinical team
• Conduct regular job development and job search activities with young people
• Assist young people to apply for jobs and contact employers
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to support and advocate for young people’s vocational and educational goals
• Adopt a proactive approach

Qualifications

• Qualifications and/or experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, career development or a related field
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence

Experience

Typically, this role will require three (3) or more years’ experience in your field of expertise. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be organised, systematic, thorough, accurate and disciplined. You will be continuing to develop in your area of expertise and be expected to provide innovative ideas to solve problems in your discipline. It is expected that you will possess good skills at navigating a complex organisation, forging relationships, and managing through influence rather than direct authority as required.

• Knowledge of the principles of evidence-based supported employment.
• Demonstrated recovery-focused, person-centered attitude towards people with mental health needs and disabilities
• Experience working with young people with mental ill health.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet organisational outcomes.
• Ability to work proactively and flexibly to meet individual needs.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver person-centered plans and supports.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and nurture relationships at a personal, organizational and community level.

Desirable

• Experience working in an early psychosis team or with young people in an acute mental health setting.
• Eligibility for membership of the Career Development Association of Australia.
