Job description

About Architectus

We design to make a positive and lasting impact on people, cities, and communities. We're a multi-disciplinary practice with national reach and deep expertise, enabling us to achieve design excellence at scale.

Our 800+ architects, interior designers, landscape architects, urban planners, urban designers, digital experts, and wayfinding specialists collaborate across 13 studios in Australia and New Zealand, working on projects of every type and size. This makes us the largest, most versatile design practice in our region.

Through a thoughtful, integrated approach to design, we form genuine partnerships with our clients and collaborators to create meaningful and resilient places that endure.

About the Role

Based in either Melbourne or Brisbane as part of our national Communications team, you'll have the opportunity to shape how our projects, people and ideas are presented to the world. From compelling submissions and presentations to campaigns, reports and digital content, you'll combine graphic design, photography and visual storytelling to create work that is distinctive, engaging and unmistakably Architectus.

Photography is a big part of this role. You'll take the lead in building and evolving our project image library, working with some of Australia's leading architectural photographers to develop creative briefs, coordinate and direct shoots, and select and refine the imagery that best captures our work. You'll also get behind the camera yourself, capturing projects, people, events and the moments that reveal the culture behind our studios.

You'll work closely with our design leaders, sector leaders and project teams, turning complex ideas into clear and visually compelling stories. You'll work across digital and print, applying and evolving our brand while balancing creativity with the realities of a fast-paced studio environment and competing deadlines.

With projects spanning 10+ sectors and nine locations, you'll have plenty of variety and the opportunity to work with talented people across architecture and design.

If you're a designer who loves great typography, beautiful imagery and the challenge of making complex ideas simple – this could be your next opportunity.

About You

You're a visual storyteller at heart. You know what makes a strong image, understand the power of a well-crafted layout and have the design skills to turn an idea into something people remember.

You'll be curious, collaborative and creatively driven, with a genuine interest in architecture, design, sustainability and the way our cities are evolving.

Above all, you'll care about the work. You'll want to understand the story behind a project, find the right image, refine the detail and create communications that do justice to the ideas and people behind it.

To be considered for this role, you'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications, Bachelor of Graphic Design or Photography
  • 5+ years' experience in graphic or visual communications design
  • A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality graphic design and visual storytelling
  • Advanced Adobe CreativeCloud skills, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Experience coordinating photography shoots and working with photographers and creative suppliers
  • Photography skills of your own – with a personal photography portfolio highly regarded
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to turn complex briefs into compelling visual outcomes
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects, priorities and deadlines without compromising quality
Employee Benefits

With a focus on corporate social responsibility and environmental initiatives, you'll appreciate our welcoming, community-driven atmosphere. Here'ssome of what we offer our team:

  • Flexible work options including recuperation time and work from home days
  • Access to our in-house mentoring program
  • Generous paid parental leave: 16 weeks primary carers, 4 weeks secondary carers
  • $5,000 employee referral bonus and novated lease options for electric vehicles
  • Income protection insurance to cover part of your wage if you're unable to work
  • Access to confidential counselling, wellbeing, legal and financial advice
  • Supportive and diverse workplace culture

Architectus is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, we actively promote an inclusive workplace culture and encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply. This position requires an appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa. Pre-employment checks will be required of the successful candidate.
