Job summary

Newcastle Grammar School in the Hunter Region seeks a dedicated Visual Art Teacher for a Term 1 long service leave replacement. Join a well-established, supportive learning environment and deliver curriculum-aligned visual arts across Years 7–12.

You will plan, teach, assess and provide constructive feedback, while contributing to faculty planning and broader school life. A collaborative culture and student wellbeing are priorities.

Qualifications

  • Valid Working with Children Check is essential.
  • Formal teaching qualifications
  • At least 2 years' Visual Art teaching experience up to senior levels
  • Excellent communication with students, educators and parents

Responsibilities

  • Teach Visual Arts across secondary year levels (Years 7-12).
  • Plan, prepare and deliver curriculum-aligned lessons.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Visual Art Teacher to join Newcastle Grammar School for a Term 1 long service leave position. This temporary contract offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a well-established and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Teach Visual Arts across secondary year levels (Years 7-12)
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and curriculum-aligned lessons
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
  • Encourage artistic exploration through a variety of media, techniques and creative practices
  • Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback to support growth and achievement
  • Participate in faculty planning, school events and the broader life of the school
About you
  • Valid Working with Children Check (essential)
  • Aligned with the School's values and mission of providing outstanding education to students
  • Formal teaching qualifications and at least 2 years' experience teaching Visual Art up to senior levels
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, educators, and parents
