Job summary

Southern Premium Vineyards is seeking a hardworking Vineyard Operator to join our Griffith, NSW vineyard team. Reporting to the Vineyard Supervisor, you will perform a variety of duties aligned with seasonal requirements and focus on disease and weed control, irrigation, and equipment operation.

You will be involved in planting, vine development, re-planting and re-trellising, and you may participate in harvesting during vintage. A genuine interest in viticulture and outdoor work is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in viticulture or similar environments.
• Chemical certificate is beneficial.
• Truck and forklift licenses are beneficial.
• Willing to learn and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Carry out disease and weed control programs.
• Conduct irrigation activities and maintain plant health.
• Operate and maintain all vineyard machinery and equipment.
• Participate in planting, vine development, re-planting and re-trellising.
• Assist with harvesting during vintage and seasonal tasks.

Job description

Southern Premium Vineyards (SPV) owns and operates wine grape vineyards in Australia’s finest and most productive wine grape regions including the Barossa Valley, Clare and Limestone Coast regions of South Australia and the Riverina in New South Wales. Established in 2021, SPV offers wine producers a grape supply solution for their wine grape sourcing as an alternative to owning or leasing vineyards.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a hardworking and capable Vineyard Operator to be part of our vineyard team in Griffith, NSW. Reporting to the Vineyard Supervisor, you will carry out a variety of vineyard duties in accordance with seasonal requirements. You will carry out our disease and weed control programs, conduct irrigation activities, maintain and operate all plant equipment and machinery, planting and vine development activities including re-planting and re-trellising. You will also participate in harvesting during vintage. This role is perfect for someone who has a genuine interest in viticulture and enjoys working outdoors.

ABOUT YOU:

You enjoy variety and working with a lots of different of machinery and equipment. You are someone with a strong work ethic, reliable, a good team player and have a steadfast commitment to safety and product quality. We are interested in candidates who are passionate about the wine industry and are willing to learn new skills.

Ideally you have experience in viticulture or experience operating in similar environments. Current chemical certificate and truck and fork lift license is beneficial but not essential as we provide training as required. This is an excellent work environment, hands on and interesting, with the best teams in the business.
