Join one of Australia’s leading veterinary teaching hospitals at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC) for a full-time continuing opportunity. You’ll provide best-practice nursing in a busy small animal general practice, supporting clinicians and interns in a university setting.

The role offers a base salary of 82,388 to 91,488 AUD per year plus 17% superannuation, with rostered shifts Monday to Friday and opportunities to broaden clinical skills in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV and/or advanced nursing experience in a small animal veterinary hospital environment
• Knowledge of a large range of veterinary, surgical, and medical procedures
• Demonstrated ability to cope with emergencies and stressful situations
• Willingness to work rostered shifts, Monday to Friday
• Valid driver’s licence and vaccination requirements (Q Fever)

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will be to:

The small animal service at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC) operates in: a general small animal veterinary practice wide range of all medical and surgical problems second opinion cases.

About you

• a Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV and/or advanced veterinary nursing experience in a small animal veterinary hospital environment
• knowledge of a large range of veterinary, surgical, and medical procedures
• demonstrated ability to cope with emergencies and stressful situations
• demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team
• experience working in a customer service environment with demonstrated high levels of care for patients and clients
• good attention to detail
• a willingness and ability to work rostered shifts, Monday to Friday
• the ability to communicate with veterinary professionals and academic staff
• demonstrated ability to lift animals up to 16kg and heavier animals with assistance (mechanical and/or team lifting), adhering to the University’s Heavy Lifting Policy
• competence and experience in best practice veterinary anaesthesia
• experience working in a veterinary teaching hospital environment desirable
• a valid driver’s licence
• vaccination for Q Fever or willingness to be vaccinated
