Job summary

Pacificas Freight is recruiting a hands-on Vehicle Mechanic to support Westwell's autonomous vehicle rollout at the Port of Brisbane. You'll apply electrical, mechanical and hydraulic maintenance skills to keep AGVs and related equipment safe and operational in a live port environment.

With a practical, safety-first mindset, you will diagnose faults, perform scheduled maintenance, and assist with breakdowns, returning vehicles to service and keeping meticulous records.

Qualifications

• More than two years' practical vehicle maintenance experience.
• Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• A relevant trade qualification or technical background in vehicle maintenance, diesel mechanics, automotive electrical, heavy vehicles or mobile plant.
• A practical approach, attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
• A current driver's licence.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin to communicate with local and Westwell technical teams.
• Availability for a roster that may include day and night shifts.
• Experience with heavy vehicles, mobile plant or port operations would be advantageous, as would an MSIC or relevant low-voltage electrical qualification.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain vehicle mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance, diagnose faults and complete corrective repairs.
• Respond to breakdowns and provide on-site technical support.
• Assist with the safe recovery of immobilised vehicles.
• Work with Westwell's technical team to investigate issues and return vehicles to service.
• Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance and repair records.
• Follow site safety procedures and help keep vehicles ready for operation.
