Job summary

Galati Nominees Pty Ltd is seeking a Vegetable Farm Worker to join our Myalup/Bunbury area teams in WA. The role supports soil preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilising and harvesting to ensure healthy crop production.

You will operate farm machinery, follow safety procedures and help with packing and transport of vegetables. Experience in vegetable farming or similar roles is preferred; agricultural qualifications are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in vegetable farming or similar agricultural role.
• Knowledge of planting, crop maintenance, irrigation and harvesting practices.
• Ability to operate farm machinery and hand tools safely.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adhere to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Regularly inspect vegetable crops and report on growth, pests or disease.
• Plant seeds, seedlings, roots, bulbs and tubers using tools and machinery.
• Prepare and fertilise soil; carry out crop maintenance including thinning and weeding.
• Apply pesticides and other treatments following safe handling procedures.
• Operate irrigation systems and monitor water supply for crop growth.
• Install and maintain crop supports, trellises, greenhouses and nets.
• Select and harvest vegetables according to quality and maturity, removing damaged produce.
• Grade, sort, pack and load vegetables for transport.
• Clean and maintain sheds, fences, equipment and irrigation infrastructure.
• Operate machinery for cultivation, spraying and harvesting.
• Record crop and operational information using farm technology.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Vegetable Farm Worker to carry out a range of duties associated with the planting, care and harvesting of vegetable crops. The role supports daily farm operations, including soil preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilising, crop maintenance and harvesting to support healthy crop growth and quality production.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Regularly inspect vegetable crops and report on their condition, growth and any signs of pests or disease.
• Plant seeds, seedlings, roots, bulbs and tubers using hand tools and farm machinery.
• Prepare, cultivate and fertilise soil and carry out crop maintenance, including thinning, weeding and hoeing.
• Apply pesticides and other approved treatments to control weeds, pests and crop diseases, following safe handling procedures.
• Operate and monitor water supply and irrigation systems to support crop growth.
• Install and maintain crop supports and protective structures, including trellises, greenhouses, netting and fences.
• Select and harvest vegetables according to quality and maturity requirements, removing damaged or unsuitable produce.
• Grade, sort, bunch and pack vegetables and load produce for transport.
• Clean and maintain farm sheds, fences, equipment and irrigation infrastructure.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery used for cultivation, fertilising, spraying and harvesting.
• Use farm technology and data collection systems to record crop and operational information.

Key Skills & Attributes

• Previous experience in vegetable farming or a similar agricultural role.
• Knowledge of planting, crop maintenance, irrigation and harvesting practices.
• Ability to safely operate farm machinery, equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to carry out physical duties outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Commitment to workplace safety and safe chemical handling procedures.
• Relevant agricultural qualifications are desirable.
