Job summary

Sterilizer Validation Australia (SVA) is seeking a Validation Specialist to join our Technical Services team. The role involves on-site testing across hospitals and health facilities nationwide, with regular travel and mentorship from experienced staff.

You will conduct critical annual validation tests on sterilization equipment and contribute to safer patient care through accurate assessment of washer disinfectors and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers.

Qualifications

• Must be comfortable travelling across Australia.
• Experience in technical roles – maintenance or installation of medical equipment.
• Electrical, electronics or other trade background.
• Professional presentation and demeanour.
• Desire to contribute to patient safety and team success.

Responsibilities

• Carry out critical annual tests on equipment used for decontamination and sterilization.
• Test Washer Disinfectors and Low Temperature Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilizers.
• Work independently on-site with mentoring from supervisors and colleagues.

Sterilizer Validation Australia (SVA) is Australia's leading independent provider of validation services to hospitals and healthcare facilities. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Validation Specialist to join our Technical Services team.

If you enjoy variety and dislike being stuck behind a desk every day, this role offers the opportunity to work in hospitals and health facilities across the country. One week you may be working in a major metropolitan hospital, the next in a regional facility somewhere ‘out there’.

Travel is a regular part of the role, typically involving short trips of up to four consecutive nights at a time. In recognition of the travel involved, SVA provides generous travel allowances and additional RDO benefits.

Every test you perform contributes to safer patient care. The work you undertake helps ensure that surgical instruments and medical devices used throughout Australia's healthcare system are cleaned, disinfected and sterilized appropriately.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking responsibility for their work while being part of a collaborative and supportive team. Our Validation Specialists work independently on-site but remain closely connected to experienced supervisors and colleagues who provide ongoing mentoring, technical guidance and support. Through ongoing development and coaching, you'll gain the knowledge and confidence required to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes for clients across Australia.

As a Validation Specialist you will be responsible for carrying out critical annual tests on equipment used for the decontamination and sterilization of medical devices. This includes:

Washer Disinfectors

Low Temperature Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilizers

Though not critical, previous experience in other similar roles would be highly regarded:

Technical roles – maintenance or installation of medical equipment

Electrical, electronics or other trade
