Job summary

A leading educational institution is seeking a Digital Curation Specialist to provide expertise in managing and curating digital collections. The successful candidate will develop guidelines and collaborate to ensure long-term access to digital content. Candidates should have experience in digital preservation and a strong background in library or archival systems. The role offers a competitive salary and is based at the Darlington Campus.

Qualifications

  • Previous work experience on digital collections, digitisation projects and/or digital preservation.
  • Understanding of metadata, standards, workflows, resource description, rights and permissions.
  • Support ongoing development of high-quality digital curation services.

Responsibilities

About the opportunity

Provide specialist advice and expertise, including technical understanding, on the long-term management and curation of digital collections, including research data, and develop guidelines, procedures and training to ensure digital content created or curated by the Library is managed, described and formatted in ways that provides long term meaningful access for future researchers, students and scholars.

About you

previous work experience on digital collections, digitisation projects and/or digital preservation

expertise and understanding of library, archival, or preservation repository systems, services and requirements, including metadata, standards, workflows, resource description, rights and permission

approaches work as a strong collaborator with great initiative as a project manager and good attention to detail

supports the ongoing development of high-quality client-focused digital curation services

provides specialist technical advice on digital preservation to the University community

actively contributes to team and Library culture and values.
