Job summary

Camden Council is seeking an Urban Forest Services Cadet based at Oran Park to combine paid workplace experience with tertiary study. You will gain hands-on exposure to tree management, urban greening projects and landscape assessment while supporting the Urban Forest Services team in a collaborative environment.

This temporary full-time cadetship (for up to 2 years) offers 35-hour weeks, flex leave, health programs and development opportunities, with hybrid work options and free parking.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking, or demonstrated ability to enrol, in a tertiary qualification in Arboriculture (AQF5).
• Interest in arboriculture, urban forestry, landscape management or related discipline.
• Demonstrated organisational skills to balance study and workplace commitments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to learn.
• Current Class C Drivers Licence.

Urban Forest Services Cadet SALARY: $1,169 - $1,279 pw + Super Work Type: Temporary Full Time for the duration of study up to 2 years Location: Oran Park Administration Building - 70 Central Avenue, Oran Park 2570

Essential:

• Currently undertaking, or demonstrated ability to enrol, in a tertiary qualification in Arboriculture (AQF5)
• Ability to show interest in arboriculture, urban forestry, landscape management or a related discipline
• Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks, and to balance study and workplace commitments effectively
• Ability to work Independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to learn
• stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution, and the ability to use sound judgement when supporting recommendations
• Current Class C Drivers Licence

Desirable:

• Knowledge or urban forest management, tree assessment, or vegetation assessment
• Understanding of local government operations relevant to urban forest management
