Job summary

The InsideOut Institute, Australia’s national institute for eating disorders research and practice, is seeking a part-time Project Officer in Sydney to support a national initiative. Based on Camperdown Campus, you will work with the project team to embed screening and early intervention across services.

You will coordinate activities, manage documentation, engage with Indigenous stakeholders, and ensure culturally responsive delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. psychology, nursing, social work, public health).
• Qualification in Project Management/coordination and/or experience in health-related project coordination/management.
• Experience working within health/mental services and/or supporting new program implementation.
• Ability to engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and incorporate Indigenous perspectives.
• Experience coordinating health/mental health projects with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

• Part-time (28 hours per week), 12-month fixed-term opportunity, based on Camperdown Campus on lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation

• Support the delivery of a nationally significant mental health initiative and help strengthen eating disorder identification and early intervention across Australia

• Base Salary $107,312 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, highly-organised and experienced project coordinator to contribute to an innovative national eating disorder initiative that upskills clinicians and embeds screening and identification within the workforce in headspace, Medicare Mental Health and Primary Health Networks nationally. The position will develop strong working relationships with key organisations in the mental health sector, and contribute to the delivery of a highly successful national youth mental health system change initiative.

The successful candidate will become part of an established project team that is embedding eating disorder training, identification, and early intervention within frontline mental health services across Australia – the first project of its kind. In addition to general project coordination activities, the position will support engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and help to ensure all project activities are inclusive, respectful and responsive to the needs and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

What You Will Do

As a Project Officer, you will provide operational project management support. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will coordinate project activities, maintain project documentation and reporting, support stakeholder engagement, and help ensure project deliverables are achieved on time and to a high standard.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Coordinate project activities, work plans, and timelines to support the successful delivery of project initiatives and ensure project objectives are achieved.

• Monitor project progress, deliverables, and milestones, identifying risks or issues and implementing appropriate actions to maintain project momentum.

• Prepare, maintain, and coordinate project documentation, resources, data, and reporting to support effective project governance and decision-making.

• Facilitate project logistics, including scheduling meetings, training activities, workshops, and events, while coordinating stakeholders and venue arrangements.

• Support the integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and cultural considerations into project resources, workforce development activities and stakeholder engagement strategies.

• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support collaboration, communication, and successful project outcomes.

• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project methodologies, training platforms, and operational processes.

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. psychology, nursing, social work, public health).

• Qualification in Project Management/coordination and/or Experience in health-related project coordination/management.

• Experience working within health/mental services (e.g. headspace, primary care) and/or supporting the implementation of new programs within healthcare or related environments.

• Demonstrated ability to support culturally responsive project delivery through respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and an understanding of the importance of incorporating Indigenous perspectives and knowledges into health and mental health initiatives.

• Demonstrated experience coordinating health/mental health projects and engaging effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.

• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks, monitor progress, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

• High level of attention to detail, numeracy skills, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite to support project administration, reporting, and data management.
