Job summary

Nufurn Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Upholsterer to join our Condell Park workshop. You will perform stitching, fabric application, finishing, and material selection to meet design specifications and client expectations.

Ideally you have 2+ years in upholstery, a Certificate III or equivalent, proficiency with sewing equipment, hand tools, and a strong eye for detail, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or equivalent in Upholstery or related trade is desirable.
• Minimum 2 years’ upholstery experience with furniture.
• Experience in repairing, restoring and reupholstering furniture.

Responsibilities

• Perform upholstery tasks such as stitching, fabric application, and finishing.
• Work with various fabrics and materials for durability and design.
• Complete projects according to design specs and quality standards.
• Check finished work for defects and correct as needed.
• Maintain safety protocols and clean work area.

Responsibilities:

• Perform upholstery tasks such as stitching, fabric application, and finishing.
• Work with various fabrics and materials to achieve the desired look and durability.
• Complete upholstery projects according to design specifications and quality standards.
• Work with designers and production managers to understand project requirements, timelines, and resources.
• Check completed work for any issues and defects, and correct them if necessary.
• Ensure all finished products meet company quality standards and client expectations.
• Choose suitable fabrics and materials for each project based on design, functionality, and budget.
• Assist in keeping track of upholstery materials and report when supplies are low.
• Keep upholstery tools and equipment clean and in working order.
• Report any issues with equipment or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Communicate with team members and management to help keep projects on track.
• Attend production meetings to learn about project updates and processes.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines in the workplace.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety practices.

Requirements:

• Certificate III or equivalent qualification in Upholstery, Furniture Manufacturing or a related trade is desirable.
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience as an Upholsterer, Furniture Upholsterer or in a closely related role.
• Demonstrated experience in repairing, restoring and reupholstering furniture.
• Skilled in measuring, cutting and fitting upholstery fabrics, leather, vinyl, foam and other materials.
• Skilled in repairing and replacing springs, webbing, padding and furniture frame components.
• Competent in sewing and joining upholstery fabrics and operating relevant sewing equipment.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools and upholstery equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently produce quality finishes.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand and respond to customer requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks within required timeframes and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to assess damage and determine appropriate repair or restoration methods.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
