Job summary

Nufurn Pty Ltd is seeking an Upholsterer for its Condell Park, NSW operation. The role focuses on stitching, fabric application, and finishing across commercial furniture lines.

You will work with diverse fabrics, repair and reupholster furniture, and collaborate with designers and production managers to meet timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or equivalent in Upholstery desirable.
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience as an Upholsterer or similar role.
• Experience in repairing, restoring and reupholstering furniture.
• Skilled in measuring, cutting and fitting upholstery fabrics, leather or vinyl.
• Repairing springs, webbing, padding and frame components.
• Sewing and joining upholstery fabrics with appropriate tools.
• Proficient with hand and power tools safely.
• Strong attention to detail and quality finishes.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Understand workplace health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Perform upholstery tasks such as stitching, fabric application, and finishing.
• Work with various fabrics and materials to achieve the desired look and durability.
• Complete upholstery projects according to design specifications and quality standards.
• Work with designers and production managers to understand project requirements, timelines, and resources.
• Check completed work for any issues and defects, and correct them if necessary.
• Ensure all finished products meet company quality standards and client expectations.
• Choose suitable fabrics and materials for each project based on design, functionality, and budget.
• Assist in keeping track of upholstery materials and report when supplies are low.
• Keep upholstery tools and equipment clean and in working order.
• Report any issues with equipment or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Communicate with team members and management to help keep projects on track.
• Attend production meetings to learn about project updates and processes.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines in the workplace.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety practices.

Requirements

• Certificate III or equivalent qualification in Upholstery, Furniture Manufacturing or a related trade is desirable.
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience as an Upholsterer, Furniture Upholsterer or in a closely related role.
• Demonstrated experience in repairing, restoring and reupholstering furniture.
• Skilled in measuring, cutting and fitting upholstery fabrics, leather, vinyl, foam and other materials.
• Skilled in repairing and replacing springs, webbing, padding and furniture frame components.
• Competent in sewing and joining upholstery fabrics and operating relevant sewing equipment.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools and upholstery equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently produce quality finishes.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand and respond to customer requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks within required timeframes and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to assess damage and determine appropriate repair or restoration methods.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
