Job summary

Byrnecut Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Underground Shift Supervisor to join our Prominent Hill operation in South Australia. You will lead underground crews, coordinate paste and service activities, and ensure safe, efficient delivery of daily targets in a demanding mining environment.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks and daily planning, maintain safety standards, and mentor crew members.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising underground crews in mining.
• Paste and/or underground service crew exposure preferred.
• SA Shift Supervisor ticket or equivalent required.
• S26 or equivalent statutory qualification is essential.

Underground Shift Supervisor – Prominent Hill

Byrnecut Australia is seeking an experienced Underground Shift Supervisor to join our team at Prominent Hill, South Australia.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced underground leader looking to join an established operation with a strong team and long-term career opportunities.

We are particularly interested in hearing from supervisors with a strong underground service crew and/or paste experience, who understand the importance these functions play in keeping an underground operation running safely and efficiently.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide hands‑on leadership and supervision to underground crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with operational requirements.

You will be responsible for:

Providing visible, hands‑on leadership across underground operations

Leading and coordinating underground crews to safely achieve daily targets

Supervising service crew and paste activities, where required

Planning and coordinating daily work activities and allocating resources effectively

Conducting pre‑starts, toolbox meetings and daily work planning

Ensuring compliance with site safety systems, procedures and statutory requirements

Maintaining strong communication between crews, departments and site leadership

Identifying operational issues and supporting practical solutions underground

Developing, mentoring and supporting crew members

Promoting a positive safety culture and high standards of accountability

About You

We are looking for an experienced underground supervisor who is confident leading from the front and building a safe, reliable and productive crew.

Ideally, you will bring:

Previous Underground Shift Supervisor experience

Paste and/or underground service crew experience – highly regarded

Development mining experience – advantageous

Current Shift Supervisor qualification/ticket relevant to South Australia

Current S26 certificate or equivalent statutory qualification

Current Australian Manual Driver's Licence

Current First Aid Certificate

Strong communication and people leadership skills

A practical, safety-focused approach to underground operations

Full Australian working rights

Ability to meet all pre‑employment requirements, including medical, National Police Clearance and drug & alcohol screening
