Job summary

Taylors is seeking an Underground Service Locator to join our Engineering Design Survey team in Melbourne. You will contribute to level crossing removal and other infrastructure projects by locating underground utilities using radio detection and GPR methods.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in underground asset location, familiarity with AS5488-2013, and ability to interpret BYDA records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in underground asset location (Class B, C and D).
• Knowledge of AS5488-2013 for Subsurface Utility Identification.
• Ability to interpret BYDA plans / service authority records.
• Ability to use radio detection and/or GPR equipment.
• Safety, accuracy and efficiency are essential.

Responsibilities

• Locate assets including water, drainage, sewerage, gas and telecommunications.
• Use radio detection and/or GPR equipment to identify depth, orientation and position.
• Analyse BYDA documents and authority records to assess asset locations.
• Review feature survey plans to ensure data is complete and correctly annotated.
• Attend construction and design survey sites for underground service detection.

Role Snap Shot

We require a Underground Service Locator within our Engineering Design Survey team to assist us in the delivery of Melbourne based infrastructure projects. Some notable projects include level crossing removal projects and an array of medium to large sized infrastructure projects.

Our Underground Service Detection unit will focus on delivering Radio Detection and GPR surveys, locating underground utilities without excavation or physically exposing the asset.

How You Will Contribute

Locating assets including water, drainage, sewerage, gas and telecommunications

Utilise radio detection and/or ground penetrating radar equipment to identify depth, orientation and position of underground assets

Analysing BYDAdocuments and authority records to assess preliminary location of assets

Reviewing feature survey plans to ensure all data has been collected and annotated correctly

Attend construction & design survey sites for the purpose of underground service detection

Our Ideal Person!
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

Minimum 3 years' experience in underground asset location, with the ability to determine location, orientation and depth (Class B, C and D)

Knowledge and understanding of Australian Standard AS5488-2013 for Subsurface Utility Identification

Ability to accurately interpret BYDA plans / service authority records

Ability to use a radio detection and / or GPR equipment

A diligent attitude towards accuracy, efficiency and safety
