Job summary

Marble Group in North Queensland is seeking an Underground Fixed Plant Operator / Service Crew for a hands-on FIFO role at a renowned hard rock mine. The position offers a 8:6 roster, days and nights, with charter FIFO from Townsville or Cairns and a well-equipped camp.

You will work across fixed plant operations and service crew duties, gaining exposure to dewatering, pipework and heavy underground equipment, with strong safety standards and long-term career progression.

Qualifications

• Underground experience in fixed plant, service crew or trade background valued.
• Comfort operating heavy underground equipment; training provided onsite.
• Experience with dewatering, pumps or pipework is advantageous.
• Physically fit to work 12-hour shifts in underground conditions.
• Safety-minded team player with willingness to learn and develop.

Responsibilities

• Dewatering operations: manage pumps, sumps and flight pumps to maintain safe water levels underground.
• Carry out pipe installation, maintenance and repairs as required.
• Operate underground equipment including boggers, excavators and rock breakers.
• Support shutdown activities; coordinate with the wider ops team.
• Conduct pre-starts, routine checks and report faults or hazards promptly.

Underground Fixed Plant Operator / Service Crew

The Role & Duties

You will get experience across fixed plant ops and general service crew experience as part of a close-knit crew. The work is physical, varied and day-to-day includes:

• Dewatering operations - managing pumps, sumps and flight pumps to maintain safe water levels underground
• Pipe installation, maintenance and repairs as required across the operation
• Operate underground equipment including boggers, excavators and rock breakers
• Supporting shutdown activities - planned and unplanned - as part of the wider ops team
• Conducting pre-starts, routine checks and reporting any faults or hazards immediately
• Working collaboratively with other crews to keep the operation running safely and on schedule

Your Background

Underground experience is the foundation or prior experience working in a fixed plant environment - but attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are number one.

• Prior underground experience in fixed plant, service crew or a trade background is highly regarded
• Comfortable operating heavy underground equipment (training will be provided onsite as well)
• Experience with dewatering, pumps or pipe work is a real advantage
• Physically fit and able to work 12-hour shifts in hot, confined underground conditions
• Team player with a strong safety mindset and a genuine willingness to learn and develop
• Current manual unrestricted driver's licence, ability to pass a pre-employment mining medical & NPC
