Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti Australia is seeking an Electrical Technician for the Underground Maintenance team at Tropicana Gold Mine. The role reports to the Underground Electrical Maintenance Supervisor and focuses on safe, timely electrical work across underground systems.

You will be involved in repairs, installations and statutory tasks in a mining environment, with a rotating 8/6 FIFO roster and site fly-ins from WA. Applicants must hold a WA Electrical Licence and have underground experience.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted WA Electrical Licence (Essential).
• Electrical Instrumentation Certificate, PLCs and Automation experience (Desirable).
• Data cabler’s license advantageous.
• Mining or heavy industry electrical maintenance experience (Essential).
• Underground Mining electrical maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations, AS/NZS 3000 and other relevant Australian Standards.
• Current High Voltage Switching certificate - however can assist with obtaining
• Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects, and SAP
• WA ‘C’ Class manual driver's license
• Senior First Aid
• Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory).

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance and installation activities on motors, VSDs, transformers, substations, starter panels, distribution boards, RMUs, ventilation fans, dewatering systems, instrumentation, communications, lighting, and other electrical systems.
• Carry out scheduled statutory work safely and efficiently.
• Install and maintain underground reticulation systems to ensure reliable power distribution.
• Conduct breakdown and maintenance work on underground drilling equipment to minimise downtime.
• Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs/installations.
• Be available after hours as part of a rotating call-out roster and respond to equipment breakdowns as required.
• Assist with equipment maintenance shutdowns and the coordination and execution of power isolations.
