Job summary

Terra Verde is seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to join our Plant team on the Terra Verde project in Melbourne. This hands-on role maintains, troubleshoots and automates electrical and PLC-controlled systems across site plant and equipment, ensuring tunnelling operations run safely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Senior PLC Engineer, you will collaborate with mechanical and production teams, develop automation solutions, and coordinate installation during maintenance stoppages, while

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a PLC Engineer or in a similar automation role on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience on TBM sites is preferred.
• Proficiency with PLC software (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider).
• Knowledge of industrial networks (Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Able to work with low-voltage electrical networks.
• Strong communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work shift patterns when required.
• Experience in tunnelling or large-scale construction is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLC-controlled plant and equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC, electrical and automation faults to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with mechanical and production teams to improve plant.
• Develop automation solutions to reduce manual input.
• Plan electrical/electronic installation during maintenance stoppages.
• Ensure safe operation of control systems and adherence to codes.
• Maintain spares, consumables, tools, and maintenance records.
• Support continuous improvement in plant performance, safety and environmental outcomes.
