Job summary

St John of God Horizon House in Victoria invites applications for a Youth Worker to support young people aged 16 to 22 who are homeless or at risk. This permanent part-time role is offered on a 4-month fixed-term contract, working 27 hours per fortnight across Friday, Saturday and Sunday night sleepovers.

You will use strengths-based, trauma-informed approaches to help youth build life and parenting skills, pursue education, training and employment, and move toward independence in a safe,

Qualifications

• Compassionate and resilient professional with experience supporting young people or vulnerable communities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with an understanding of trauma-informed practice and a commitment to child safety and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, trusting relationships with young people, prioritising their wellbeing.
• Provide safe, stable long-term accommodation to young people at risk of homelessness.
• Offer outreach, strengths-based and practical support to meet continuum of care for young people with complex needs.
• Assist young people in pursuing education, training and employment services.
• Assist in case management and planning for young people.
• Support young people in developing independent living skills.
