Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking a Youth Worker for the Towards Ending Homelessness for Young Queenslanders service in the Lockyer Valley. You will support young people in home and community settings, helping with routines, life skills and access to housing, education and health supports in a trauma-informed framework.

The role is permanent part-time, based in Gatton/Laidley surrounds, with flexible hours and a strong focus on positive outcomes for young people.

Qualifications

• Hold or be actively working towards a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or similar qualification.
• Experience supporting young people, ideally those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
• Ability to support daily routines and skill development, with de-escalation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people, providing consistent support.
• Assist young people to access and maintain safe and stable accommodation.
• Provide day to day support including routines, transport, and practical assistance to build stability.
• Develop independent living skills including budgeting, cooking, personal care and household responsibilities.
• Encourage participation in education, employment and community supports that strengthen long term stability.
• Work as part of a team to provide trauma informed support and complete required documentation.
