Job summary

Edmund Rice Education Australia Flexible Schools Ltd invites applications for a Youth Worker at Southport Flexible School. The role supports Young People to engage in learning through in-class support and workshops that promote inclusion and social development.

You will collaborate with teachers, other Youth Workers and leadership to implement school objectives, build partnerships with families, and assist referrals to external agencies, all within a trauma-informed, Catholic education framework.

Qualifications

• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Current First Aid certificate or ability to obtain.
• Current Driver’s License.
• Experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and communities.
• Knowledge of youth wellbeing theory and ethical practice.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Young People to engage in learning through in-class support and workshops.
• Collaborate with teachers, other Youth Workers and school leadership.
• Contribute to school objectives, planning and inclusive environment.
• Refer and connect Young People to external agencies via appropriate pathways.
• Contribute to maintaining a respectful, trauma-informed school culture.
