Job summary

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney invites applications for an Open Support DFV Child and Family Advocate. The role leads development of a trauma‑informed, child‑centred support framework for Open Support DFV services and will guide delivery with a focus on empowering women and children to safe, hopeful futures.

You will apply direct work with children and families, plus program management to embed best practices, ensure standards compliance, and collaborate with local providers and CALD

Qualifications

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or related discipline.
• Experience supporting children and/or families affected by DFV with trauma-informed approaches.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and play-based approaches in DFV settings.
• Understanding trauma impacts on children and related development/attachment.
• Ability to create, implement and evaluate evidence-based programs.
• Ability to assess and manage risk for children and families in a DFV context.
• Strong communication and networking with multiple service providers.
• Autonomy and ability to work in a small team.
• CALD background awareness and sensitivity to migrant communities.
• ECAV or equivalent child protection qualification (or willingness to pursue).
• Current NSW Driver Licence, Working With Children Check and NSW Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of a child and family support framework for Open Support DFV service.
• Drive service delivery with trauma-informed, child-centred practices.
• Utilise program and project management skills to embed best practice.
• Deliver individual and group interventions for children and families.
• Adhere to child protection standards and National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
