Job summary

NSW Health in Blacktown seeks a Child Protection Referral Management & Early Support Counsellor to lead RMES processes, coordinate referrals and provide counselling, advocacy and case management for children and families in crisis.

The role requires tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling with eligibility for professional registration, and a commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe practice within an integrated service environment.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for professional registration.
  • Demonstrated counselling experience in complex trauma within Violence, Abuse & Neglect settings.
  • Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults.
  • Understanding of intergenerational trauma and cultural safety principles with experience in culturally responsive services.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of legal systems, legislation and policies relating to violence, abuse and neglect.
  • Current NSW Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Referral Management & Early Support (RMES) processes end-to-end.
  • Coordinate referrals, engaging closely with stakeholders and agencies.
  • Provide counselling, advocacy and case management to children and families.
  • Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed assessments and care planning.
  • Support group programs and collaborate on integrated service delivery.
