Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Transport Engineer to contribute to planning and concept design for road, active transport and precinct projects. The role involves leading feasibility studies, planning strategies and traffic impact assessments, and delivering client-facing outputs across multidisciplinary teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with road design and planning teams, and contribute to bids and new service offerings including digital tools in transport workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience leading traffic inputs on multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Strong report writing and ability to explain complex technical issues clearly.
• Chartered status or clear pathway towards it is preferred.

Job description

• Contribute to the planning, analysis and concept design of traffic and transport solutions for road, active transport, and precinct projects
• Lead transport feasibility studies, transport planning strategies, and traffic impact assessments
• Provide trusted advice to clients such as transport agencies and private developers, including participation in workshops and presentations
• Coordinate traffic and transport inputs into multi-disciplinary projects, working closely with road design, civil, planning and digital teams
• Mentor junior traffic/transport engineers, helping them grow their technical capability and consulting skills
• Contribute to bids, client relationship development and new service offerings, including digital tools and automation in transport engineering workflows

Requirements

• Degree qualifications in civil / transport engineering or a related discipline
• Significant experience in traffic engineering and transport planning, ideally gained on Australian or New Zealand projects
• Sound knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines (e.g., Austroads, State government requirements, etc)
• Demonstrated experience leading traffic inputs on multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, including client-facing delivery
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly
• Chartered status (CPEng) or equivalent, or a clear pathway towards it
