Job summary

SMEC, a global engineering consultancy, seeks an Experienced Engineer - Roads & Highways based in Sydney to contribute to delivering road and transport infrastructure across NSW and Australia. You will join a multidisciplinary team to develop practical, sustainable engineering solutions supporting planning, design and delivery.

The role requires 3–5 years’ experience, proficiency with 12d/OpenRoads/Civil 3D, and a strong commitment to safety, quality and client outcomes.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3-5 years' experience delivering roads, highways and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in road design, geometric design and transport infrastructure delivery.
  • Exposure to industry software such as 12d, OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines and road design principles.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A commitment to safety, quality and client outcomes.
  • Progress towards Chartered status, CPEng, NER registration or equivalent professional accreditation.

  • Contribute to technical excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Graduate and developing Engineers through knowledge sharing and collaboration.

The Role

As an Experienced Engineer - Roads & Highways, you will contribute to the delivery of road and transport infrastructure projects across a range of clients and markets. Based in Sydney, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop practical, innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that support the planning, design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects across New South Wales and Australia.

In this role, you will:

  • Undertake road and highway design across all project phases.

You will bring:
