Job summary

Awabakal Preschool seeks a Transport Driver (Aboriginal Identified) to provide a safe, reliable transport service for children, families and staff. You will keep the bus clean, fueled and well maintained, and assist with yard duties on site.

The role requires a NSW Driver's Licence, First Aid, a Working with Children Check and a willingness to complete mandatory child safety training. You will work independently and as part of the centre team, engaging with the community respectfully.

Qualifications

• First Aid Certificate.
• Mandatory child safety training or willingness to obtain it.
• National Police Check.
• Working with Children Check.
• NSW Driver's Licence and ability to provide annual driving history checks.
• Experience working with Aboriginal people and the community.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all children and families are treated in a friendly manner and with the utmost respect.
• Provide an efficient transport service to Awabakal Preschool and Playgroups.
• Provide transport services to Awabakal Preschool and Playgroup as required.
• Obey road rules at all times and conduct as per the Motor Vehicle Policy.
• Provide a high level of customer service to children and families with empathy.
• Assist children and families during transport, including clients with disabilities or older age.
• Maintain a clean, fueled vehicle and ensure it is in good order for service.
• Check the vehicle's emergency equipment and first aid supplies.
• Arrange vehicle maintenance, services, repairs, and inspections with the Centre Manager.
• Undertake basic gardening and property maintenance tasks across the premises.

Transport Driver (Aboriginal Identified)

This position is responsible for providing a safe and reliable transport service for the children, families and staff of Awabakal Preschool and Playgroup; ensuring the bus is clean, fuelled, safe and in good running order; and undertaking lawn mowing, gardening and general yard upkeep across Awabakal Preschool premises.

Key responsibilities

Ensure all children and families are treated in a friendly manner and with the utmost respect

Ensure an efficient transport service is provided to Awabakal Preschool and Playgroups

Provide transport services to Awabakal Preschool and Playgroup as required

Ensure road rules are obeyed at all times and conduct is in line with the Motor Vehicle Policy

Provide a high level of customer service to children and families, being mindful and empathetic to their personal situation

Assist children and families at all times during the transport service, in particular clients with physical disabilities and of frail age

Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle and ensure vehicle is fueled and in good order ready for service

Check the vehicle's emergency equipment and first aid supplies

Arrange vehicle maintenance, services, repairs, and inspections as necessary with the Centre Manager

Undertake basic gardening and property maintenance tasks across Awabakal Preschool premises

About you

First Aid Certificate
