Job summary

UGL and CPB Contractors seek experienced Overhead Transmission Linesworkers to join our Assembly and Erection crews on the HumeLink West scope in NSW. You will contribute to construction of 500kV transmission lines on a large-scale project, maintaining safety and quality on site.

The role is full-time permanent, based in Tarcutta, NSW with a 14:7 FIFO/DIDO roster. Flights, accommodation and meals are provided in brand-new camps.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working in overhead transmission lines is required.
• Demonstrated ability to climb and work on transmission towers.
• Must hold Construction White Card and high-risk licenses.

Responsibilities

• Layout and assemble transmission line components according to plan.
• Inspect steel, bolts and lifting gear; report defects.
• Read lift plans and conduct routine checks on lifting equipment.
• Work at heights on transmission towers as required.

Job description

UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the ~140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.

HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia's eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia's largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.

The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

The Role:

We are looking for experienced Overhead Transmission Linesworkers to join our Assembly and Erection crews. You will play a key role in our transmission tower construction teams, working within an established crew on a large-scale infrastructure project.

This will be a full-time permanent opportunity on a FIFO/DIDO basis on a 14:7 roster, based in Tarcutta, NSW. All flights, accommodations and meals provided in brand new camps.

Works will involve:

• Layout steel into suitable location for assembly
• Sufficiently bolt and install members to meet specifications
• Inspection of steel and identify / report defects
• Conduct routine checks on all lifting equipment, including hooks &/or attachments
• Bolt management and tightening process understood
• Calculation of load masses, assessment of lifting points & slinging requirements
• Read and understand lift plans for works
• Work at heights and climb transmission towers to erect

• High Risk Work Licences - Rigging, Dogging, Elevated Work Platform - essential
• Work at Heights licence - essential
• First Aid
• CPR
• Proven experience working in overhead transmission lines - essential
• Demonstrated experience climbing and working on transmission towers - essential

• Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical
