Job summary

Zinfra is seeking experienced Transmission Riggers to join our Assembly and Erection crews for the Calvale to Calliope River Transmission Line project in Queensland. You will lead and work with established crews on high-profile energy infrastructure, ensuring safety and quality in every lift.

This full-time FIFO role offers a 19 days on, 9 days off roster, flights from most Australian airports, and camp accommodations with meals provided, plus opportunities for training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Solid rigging experience on energy infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with overhead transmission lines.
• RW Health, safety and high-risk work competencies required.

Responsibilities

• Identify, sort and position steel for assembly on site.
• Assemble members to project specifications.
• Inspect steel and report defects found.
• Conduct lifting equipment and attachment checks.
• Understand bolt management and tightening procedures.
• Coordinate with crane operators, lineworkers and supervisors.
• Calculate load weights and assess lifting requirements.

The Project

Zinfra has been selected to play a key role in delivering Powerlink’s energy transition across Central Queensland a region at the heart of Australia’s evolving energy landscape.

Over the next 5–10 years, Powerlink is undertaking a major program of transmission infrastructure works to strengthen the network, support new renewable energy generation and enable the growing electrification of industry. This includes new overhead transmission lines, substations and major network upgrades.

The Calvale to Calliope River Transmission Line is the first major project in this exciting program.

Zinfra will deliver 67 kilometres of new high-voltage transmission line, between Calvale and Calliope River substations. The scope includes construction and stringing of 145 double circuit steel transmission line towers creating critical infrastructure to support the region’s future energy needs.

This is more than a major infrastructure project, it’s an opportunity to be part of Queensland’s energy transformation and work on a high-profile program that will have a lasting impact on how energy is transmitted across the state

About the role

We’re seeking experienced Transmission Riggers to join our Assembly and Erection crews. In these key roles, you’ll lead and work alongside established and well organised crews on high-profile energy infrastructure projects that are helping power the future of Queensland. Your contribution will play a vital part in delivering clean, affordable, and reliable electricity to homes and businesses.

This is a full-time, permanent FIFO opportunity offering a 19 days on, 9 days off roster with your travel days on the 1st and 19th day of your roster.

Flights are provided from most major airports across Australia, with accommodation and meals fully provided. You’ll stay in modern, new camp facilities offering a comfortable lock-and-leave lifestyle, with the camp conveniently located less than 15 minutes from the main project office / yard.

Work includes:

• Identify, sort and position steel for assembly


• Assemble members to specifications


• Inspect steel and report defects


• Conduct lifting equipment and attachment checks


• Understand bolt management and tightening procedures


• Coordinating with crane operators, Lineworkers, supervisors and other teams


• Calculate load weights and assess lifting/slinging requirements


• Follow strict high-voltage, working-at-height, lifting and environmental requirement
