The role also develops partnerships with schools, families, employers, community agencies and training providers, coordinates work-readiness and employment opportunities, and monitors and reports on the progress of identified students. This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.60FTE), 43.5 hours per fortnight.
The Torres Strait Islanders' Regional Education Council (TSIREC) was formed in 1981 as an educational advocacy body, representing the aspirations of the Torres Strait Region. TSIREC has continued to connect the Torres Strait community with key government officials for almost 30 years, providing strategic advice about major Education reforms and policy development.
The Queensland Government Department of Education assumed responsibility for education services across the Torres Strait in 1986. Between 1986 and 1991, state education services were expanded from Thursday Island to sixteen state schools and one secondary school across 15 islands.
As the Transition Pathways Officer, you will work across a cluster of State High Schools to provide a broad range of services to maximise the transition outcomes of students at risk of not successfully transitioning from school before the completion of Year 12.
The Transition Pathways Officer reports to a management committee comprising Principals of schools within the cluster.
There is no housing attached to this role. The successful candidate will need to have accommodation on Thursday or Horn Islands.
