Job summary

Powertech is seeking an experienced Transformer Technician to join the Malaga, WA team on a full-time permanent basis. The role involves delivering HV transformer services, performing oil filtration, installation and site support across diverse projects in mining, utilities and renewables.

Applicants should have 5+ years in power transformers, strong diagnostics skills, and be able to travel to remote locations.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade with a current fitter/mechanic electrical license preferred but not required.
• 5+ years experience in power transformers.
• Ability to perform transformer oil filtration and circulation.
• Rectification and refurbishment work on power transformers.
• Installation and assembly of new power transformers with onsite support.
• Site inspections and consultancy for power transformers to assist maintenance plans.
• Familiar with transformer components like tap changer systems/operation.
• Fault finding, diagnosing and repairing transformers including oil diagnosis.
• Extensive knowledge of transformer service requirements.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Truck license preferred but not required.
• Transformer electrical testing is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Meet client requirements and exceed expectations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Powertech clients.

We are currently taking applications New Zealand and Australia wide. Point of hire will be Perth Western Australia, must be willing to relocate if based outside of Western Australia.

About The Role

• Achieve the deliverables outlined in the 'transformer services' business plan.


• Perform work and provide technical support of HV Power Transformers


• Ensure client's requirements are met and expectations exceeded.

About You

• An electrical trade (current fitter/mechanic electrical license). Preferred but not a requirement.


• 5 or more years' Experience in Power transformers.


• Perform power Transformer Oil Filtration and Circulation.


• Rectification and Refurbishment work of Power Transformers


• Installation & assembly of New Power Transformers and provide onsite support.


• Site Inspections and consultancy for Power Transformers to assist clients with maintenance plans and rectifications or refurbishments.


• Familiar with Transformer components and accessories, such as Tap changer systems/ operation.


• Ability to fault find, diagnose and repair Transformers, including Transformer oil diagnosis.
