Job summary

JJ's Waste & Recycling is seeking a hands-on Transfer Station Attendant in Cannonvale, Whitsundays. This full-time role involves traffic control, customer assistance, and site maintenance at our transfer station, with a 6:00am–6:00pm, 4-on 4-off roster.

The successful candidate will have a strong safety record and enjoy an outdoors, practical working environment. We provide a supportive team, local career development, and an essential services role within an established Australian-owned company

Responsibilities

• Direct traffic within the transfer station and guide customers.

• Maintain buildings, grounds, roadsides, and landscaping in clean condition.
• Operate a backhoe and HR truck on site.
• Undertake general labouring and administrative duties as directed.

About the Role

Shifts commencing: 6:00am to 6:00pm | 4 on 4 off

What You’ll Do

Based in Cannonvale (Whitsundays), we are seeking an Attendant for our Transfer Station in the area.

You will be a motivated team player with strong communication skills, excellent customer service, positive attitude and great safety record – we can teach you the rest!

Your responsibilities will include:

• Direct traffic within the transfer station and provide general information to customers
• Control the placement of waste and recyclables being deposited by customers, to maximise resource recovery
• Maintain all buildings, grounds, roadways and landscaping - clean and tidy condition at all times
• Driving a backhoe and HR truck onsite
• Undertake general labouring and administrative duties as directed

What You’ll Bring

Comfortable with a Set Roster - 6am - 6pm | 4 on 4 off

Strong work ethic with a can-do attitude

Enjoy working outdoors in a hands-on environment

What You’ll Need

Undertake a company pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening

Provide a five-year traffic history at interview.

HR Truck and Backhoe licence advantageous - don't have one? We can train you!

A proven safety record and knowledge of safety systems and procedures

Ability to work in a small team or autonomously
