Job summary

Sofitel Brisbane Central is seeking a Training & Development Officer to join our Talent & Culture team in Brisbane. You will lead the learning agenda, drive compliance and create development opportunities across the hotel to deliver luxury experiences.

You will partner with leaders to close capability gaps and support early careers. The role emphasizes onboarding, talent development, and governance, with a strong focus on training, apprenticeships, and education partnerships.

Qualifications

• Experience in learning & development, training, Talent & Culture or hospitality.
• Strong facilitation, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
• Confidence engaging with employees and leaders at all levels.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of compliance, governance and audit requirements.
• Ability to analyse data and turn insights into practical action.
• Strong digital and Microsoft Office skills, with experience using learning systems.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced hotel environment.
• Passion for luxury service and creating exceptional employee experiences.
• Experience with apprenticeships, traineeships, internships or education partnerships is highly valued.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, Learning & Development, Business, Hospitality or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead Learning & Development programs for Sofitel, Accor and hotel-specific training.
• Own mandatory training; monitor completion, identify risks and ensure audit readiness.
• Build capability by identifying gaps and developing targeted learning solutions.
• Oversee onboarding and support performance, development and career conversations.
• Support talent identification, career pathways and succession planning.
• Manage relationships with TAFEs, universities and education providers.
• Maintain training records, dashboards and governance reporting.
• Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Collaborate with department leaders and external partners to build workforce capability.

Job Description

Sofitel Brisbane Central is seeking a passionate and driven Training & Development Officerto join our Talent & Culture team.

This is a high-impact role responsible for building capability, driving compliance and creating meaningful development opportunities across the hotel. Working closely with the Director of People & Culture and hotel leaders, you will champion a culture of continuous learning while ensuring our people have the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver exceptional luxury experiences.

You will take ownership of our learning and development agenda, with a strong focus on training, compliance, talent development and early careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Learning & Development:Plan, coordinate and deliver engaging Sofitel, Accor and hotel-specific training programs.
• Drive Compliance:Own mandatory training, monitor completion, identify risks and ensure the hotel remains audit-ready.
• Build Capability:Partner with leaders to identify capability gaps, coach teams and develop targeted learning solutions.
• Onboarding & Performance:Lead the new employee onboarding experience and support performance, development and career conversations.
• Talent & Succession:Support talent identification, career pathways, succession planning and Accor development programs.
• Early Careers:Manage relationships with TAFEs, universities and education providers, including apprenticeships, traineeships, internships and work experience.
• Reporting & Governance:Maintain accurate training records, dashboards and compliance reporting, providing insights to leaders and the Executive Committee.
• Culture & Engagement:Champion a culture of continuous learning, accountability, recognition and professional growth.
• Stakeholder Partnership:Work closely with department leaders, People & Culture and external partners to build workforce capability and support business objectives.

Qualifications
