Job summary

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is seeking Trainee Patient Transport Officers to join the Narrandera Health Service team. This role focuses on providing safe patient transport between facilities and supporting bed flow with ambulance services as needed.

Ideal candidates are willing to train in CPR, BLS, and First Aid, with a current class C driving licence and a clean driving history. The position covers a 24/7 rotating roster and offers pro-rata remuneration with superannuation and

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comfortable and cost-effective patient transport between MLHD facilities.
• Assist NSW Ambulance with patient transfers to support bed flow as required.
• Operate under the direction of the Patient Transport Coordinator to ensure timely, safe transport.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for passionate and dedicated Trainee Patient Transport Officers to join our team in this crucial role within the Murrumbidgee Local Health District based from Narrandera Health Service.

As the Trainee Patient Transport Officer you will be responsible for:

Providing safe, comfortable and cost-effective transportation services in scenarios that include:

• Patient transfers to MLHD facilities to other facilities, internal or external
• Assisting, as required, NSW Ambulance with patient transfers to support bed flow
• Enabling safe and timely transport of patients under direction from the Patient Transport Coordinator

About You

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate -

Willingness to undertake training (or demonstrated previous experience) in the below:

• Advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Guedels Airway
• Basic life support skills
• Advanced First Aid
• Patient handling and lifting techniques
• Driver training
• Oxygen administration and transport and handling of specialised equipment (eg cardiac defibrillators)
• A genuine interest in providing essential patient care services
• Be willing to work in a rotating roster that provides 24/7 services
• Passion and determination to grow and develop in the role and within the team
• NSW WWCC

* Please note, you must hold a current class C drivers licence and ensure that:

• You have not lost 6 demerit points within the last 3 years
• You have not had any suspensions / loss of licence within the last 2 years
• A proven safe driving record verified by a current Roads and Maritime Services licence printout must be supplied.
