Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Melbourne invites applications for its 2027 Trainee Legal Assistant Program. This 9-month program provides on-the-job training with rotations through 3 legal teams, a comprehensive orientation, and a buddy/coach system. Upon successful completion, you’ll secure a permanent Legal Assistant role within a legal team.

Applications open 14 September and close 12 October; interviews follow quickly with offers the week of 2 November. The program starts Monday 1 February 2027.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Business Administration, Advanced Diploma of Business (Legal Practice) or equivalent qualification. (Or applicable administration work experience)
• Excellent spelling and grammar
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Trainee Legal Assistant Program - Melbourne

Are you a business administration / secretarial school graduate ready to kick-start your career? If so, applications for our 2027 Trainee Legal Assistant Program are now open!

Our 9-month Trainee Legal Assistant Program provides you with:

• On-the-job training and development, with rotations through 3 different legal teams so you can experience what it's like to work in different areas of the firm.
• A comprehensive orientation and learning program.
• A dedicated buddy/coach within each of your 3 rotations who will teach and guide you when undertaking tasks and offer advice along the way.
• A dedicated Team Leader who will support and coach you through your entire program and beyond.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be placed in a permanent Legal Assistant role within one of our legal teams.

Key program dates

• Applications will be opening 14 September and will close on Monday 12 October, so we encourage you to apply quickly!
• Interviews will be conducted quickly following applications that are identified of interest. Offers will be made the week commencing 2 November
• Trainee Legal Assistant Program will commence from Monday 1 February 2027
