Www.chandlermacleod.com is seeking an experienced Train Driver to support rail operations at a major mining operation in Weipa, Queensland. The role is site-based and offers a 7/7 lifestyle roster with camp accommodation, meals, and flights provided.

Applicants should have a Certificate IV in Train Driving and a strong safety focus, with experience operating GL class locomotives desirable. This role has the potential to extend for up to 12 months.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to operate locomotives safely and efficiently.
• Experience with rail operational procedures.
• Ability to work on a remote site under various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform shunting and wagon movements.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Train Driver to support rail operations at a major mining operation in Weipa, Far North Queensland. These site-based contract roles are available due to operational requirements and offer strong extension potential. GL class locomotive experience is desirable, with site-based familiarisation available for suitably qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate locomotives in line with rail, site, and safety procedures
• Shunting and wagon movements
• Changing rail switches and hosing down ore wagons
• Routine inspections and general rail duties
• Compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Certificate IV in Train Driving
• Current Category 1 Rail Medical
• Ability to pass site medical, drug & alcohol, and background checks
• Strong safety focus and ability to work on a remote site
