Job summary

Freighter Group in Direk, SA invites applicants for a Trailer Technician to join our Service team. You will service and repair trailer equipment and diagnose faults on brake, suspension and air systems.

We welcome qualified tradespeople or experienced helpers with strong mechanical aptitude. A trade qualification is advantageous but not essential; welding and fabrication skills are desirable. We offer a safety-focused culture, ongoing training and opportunities within a growing national business.

Qualifications

• Experience in trailer, heavy vehicle, automotive, agricultural equipment, plant or transport maintenance.
• A trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Automotive, Engineering Fabrication or a related field (advantageous but not essential).
• Experience working with brakes, suspensions, axles and air systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience (desirable).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
• The ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing trailer equipment.
• Diagnosing and rectifying faults on brake, suspension and air systems.
• Replacing bearings, hubs, axles and associated trailer components.
• Performing general mechanical maintenance and reconditioning work.
• Completing repairs in accordance with safety and quality standards.
• Undertaking fabrication and welding repairs where required.
• Maintaining accurate service records and job documentation.
• Supporting a clean, safe and efficient workshop environment.

What You'll Be Doing
