About the role

The role of Trades Assistant is a diverse outdoor role which provides high quality maintenance support for local parks, sports fields or roadside landscapes across the Central Coast. Your day could include anything from vegetation management at parks, roadsides & sports grounds, improvements and repairs to infrastructure such as play equipment and a range of other activities to keep our public spaces safe and clean.

Council will also be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent Trades Assistant vacancies.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Working with your crew on a range of vegetation management activities within Council's sporting facilities, roadsides, parks or reserves
  • Undertaking a range of facility maintenance, improvement works or new construction projects as required
  • Ensuring that ovals, playing fields, parks and reserves are left in a clean and safe state on a daily basis to minimise risk of harm to the public
  • Safe operation and maintenance of machines, vehicles, tools and equipment required to undertake the role.

About you:

  • You have extensive relevant experience in general horticulture or landscaping, parks maintenance, or sports facilities and/or similar community recreation facilities
  • You enjoy adding value to your team by bringing an innovative perspective and new ideas
  • Safety is a key focus for you at work
  • You have genuine enthusiasm for delivering quality services to the local community
  • You hold a Class C Drivers Licence
  • You hold a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or you are willing to obtain prior to any offer of employment
  • Traffic control qualifications would be highly regarded
  • Having a work/life balance is important to you.

The commencing salary for this position is up to $61k per annum. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $70.7k per annum on completion of assessment of skills and performance 12% superannuation
