Job summary

The Casino Food Company Limited in Casino, NSW is seeking a Trades Assistant to support our maintenance team across production facilities. You will help with general maintenance tasks, plant checks and basic preventative work, with rostered shifts and overtime as required.

Prior experience helps but is not essential; we value a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Training will be provided in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist trades staff with general maintenance tasks across site.
• Support maintenance and refrigeration teams as directed.

• Perform general labouring duties and keep areas clean and safe.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

Job description

The Casino Food Company Limited is a leading export food processor with production facilities at Casino and Booyong, near Lismore, in the Northern Rivers area of the NSW Far North Coast.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trades Assistant to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will assist trade staff with general maintenance, plant support, housekeeping and labouring duties across our operations. This role requires flexibility to work varying shifts, including rostered shifts, weekends and overtime as required.

Prior experience is helpful but not essential. We are looking for applicants with the right attitude towards work who are willing to learn, be trained and develop practical skills in a supportive team environment.

The main duties of these roles will include, but not be limited to:

• Assisting trades staff with general maintenance tasks
• Supporting maintenance and refrigeration team activities as directed
• Undertaking minor repairs, plant checks and basic preventative maintenance tasks
• General labouring duties across the site
• Maintaining clean, safe and tidy work areas
• Following workplace health and safety procedures at all times

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• A solid work ethic and a positive attitude towards work
• Basic mechanical understanding
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime as required
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Sound IT skills and the ability to learn new computer systems
• Ability to learn new skills and a willingness to undertake further training to develop these skills

The following experience/ qualifications are desirable, but not essential for the role:

• High risk licence for EWP, Dogging and Crane
• A background in manufacturing/processing
• HR or HC driver’s licence
• Licence/competencies in excavator, loader and bobcat
