The Innovative Group is seeking a hands-on Installer to join our specialist Projects & Service team across various industries and client sites in Australia. This role offers a path to Leading Hand / Team Leader with full training and support to develop a long-term career in a technical field.

You don’t necessarily need formal trade qualifications; the ideal candidate will have strong practical skills, a good work ethic and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Formal trade qualifications are not essential.
• Experience in HVAC, ventilation or mechanical services would be highly regarded.
• Fume extraction systems, ductwork installation or PVC duct installation are valued skills.
• Construction or site-based installation experience is desirable.

• Install ducting, brackets, fans, exhaust stacks and extraction equipment.
• Install fume cupboards and associated equipment.
• Assist with system testing and commissioning.
• Read and work from technical drawings and project specifications.

About the Role

Working alongside experienced Project Supervisors and Leading Hands, you will assist with the installation, servicing and commissioning of specialist fume extraction and ventilation systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing ducting, brackets, fans, exhaust stacks and extraction equipment.
• Installing fume cupboards and associated equipment.
• Assisting with system testing and commissioning.
• Reading and working from technical drawings and project specifications.
• Assisting with materials, equipment and project scheduling.
• Supporting project and service teams across various jobs.
• Troubleshooting issues and finding practical solutions on site.
• Working professionally with customers, builders and project managers.
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Travelling to regional and interstate sites as required, with occasional overseas travel possible.

About You

We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, proactive and keen to learn.

You will ideally have:

• Strong practical and hand skills.
• Good physical fitness and stamina for manual work.
• A positive, can-do attitude.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to follow technical drawings, instructions and procedures.
• Your own basic hand tools suitable for installation work. Specialist equipment and larger tools will be provided.
• A current Australian driver's licence and access to your own vehicle.
• A White Card, or the ability to obtain one.
• The ability and willingness to travel regionally and interstate, with occasional overseas travel potentially required.
• The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and required background checks.

Experience & Qualifications

Formal trade qualifications are not essential.

• Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:
  • HVAC, ventilation or mechanical services
  • Fume extraction systems
  • Ductwork installation
  • Metal trades or sheet metal work
  • PVC duct installation
  • PVC welding
  • Construction or site-based installation
  • Working with builders, contractors or project managers to deliver projects
  • EWP and/or scissor lift operation or certification
