Job summary

Plan A Town Planning Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a Town Planner to join our busy team. We work across a diverse range of development projects throughout Queensland and pride ourselves on practical, commercial planning solutions.

You will work with senior planners and directors through all stages of the development approval process, handling investigations, applications, reports and client liaison while developing skills in a hands-on consultancy.

The Role

As a Town Planner at Plan A, you will be involved in a broad range of planning and development projects. Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking preliminary planning and development investigations;

• Preparing and assisting with development applications;

• Reviewing and interpreting planning schemes, legislation and planning policies;

• Undertaking planning research, analysis and due diligence;

• Preparing planning reports, correspondence and other application documentation;

• Liaising with clients, Councils and other project consultants;

• Assisting senior planners and directors with complex development matters;

• Managing your own workload to meet project deadlines and budgets; and

• Developing practical and commercially focused solutions to planning and development issues.

The existing position description specifically emphasises technically high-quality work, independent analysis, commercial problem-solving and delivering outcomes within client expectations.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning or an equivalent planning qualification;

• An understanding of Queensland planning legislation and planning schemes;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills;

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills;

• Strong attention to detail;

• The ability to build positive relationships with clients, consultants and colleagues;

• Good organisational and time-management skills; and

• A practical attitude and willingness to learn.

Your existing description also calls for competent Microsoft Word and Excel skills and strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
