Job summary

The City of Greater Geraldton invites applications for the Town General Hand (Ref: 1297) in Mullewa to undertake parks and town maintenance under direction, ensuring work aligns with programs, budgets and Australian standards.

This role features a 9‑day fortnight, every second Friday off, with a salary range from $79,115 to $83,611 per annum, commensurate with knowledge, skills and qualifications. The City offers health & wellbeing programs and generous leave.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required, MR class desirable.
• Experience in maintenance of parks, gardens and reserves.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repairs and installation of Council’s parks infrastructure and recreational facilities to a high standard as directed.
• Safe operation of plant and equipment including hand tools, power tools, tractors, mowers and general horticultural maintenance equipment.
• Carry out parks and reserves maintenance including mowing, watering, fertilising, pruning, planting and reticulation.
• General town site maintenance including road and path sweeping, path repair, verge reinstatement and general maintenance duties.

About the position

The Town General Hand undertakes operational activities associated with the provision of parks and general town maintenance services to the Mullewa district within the City of Greater Geraldton, working under direction to ensure all work is carried out within agreed programs and budget and in compliance with all relevant regulations, City policies, procedures and relevant Australian standards.

This role is offered on a 9-day fortnight, giving you every second Friday off to recharge, plan adventures, or enjoy more time doing what matters to you.

Position requirements

The successful applicant will hold a valid driver’s licence (MR class desirable) and have demonstrated experience in the techniques and methods associated with the maintenance of parks, gardens and reserves.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits

This position offers a salary range from $79,115 to $83,611 per annum or from $40.04 to $42.31 per hour, commensurate with the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
