Overview

You prioritise the safety of yourself and others at work, both physically and mentally. You’ll have the opportunity to use your expertise in communication, problem-solving, empathy and conflict resolution to help thousands of people every day.

In this role, you'll: Operate a Tow Truck and respond to unplanned incidents at designated locations with the aim of returning the road to normal operating conditions with the utmost urgency

Responsibilities

  • Operating a Tow Truck and responding to unplanned incidents at designated locations with the aim of returning the road to normal operating conditions with the utmost urgency.
  • Performing traffic control, assisting in lane changes, removing debris and obstructions on the roadway and towing and escorting disabled vehicles from the carriageway to a safe position clear of traffic.
  • Conducting safety checks, completing basic maintenance such as refuelling and checking fluids and maintaining records and reports to ensure the safe use of trucks.
  • Performing a broad range of labouring / manual tasks, including the use of a range of automatic and battery-operated hand tools, under limited supervision. Work may be done in a team environment or independently.
  • Solving routine problems that arise, referring to standard guidelines and manuals, and collaborating with supervisors and managers to resolve complex problems to ensure risks are minimised and work goals are achieved.
  • There are a number of ongoing full-time positions available in Sydney. Some roles will be relocated to Luddenham in the near future.
  • These roles are 24/7 rotating shift roster positions.
  • A Talent Pool will be created for current and future ongoing and fixed term positions. If you are deemed suitable at interview and a vacancy arises, you may be contacted and asked to complete pre-employment checks.

About you

  • You have experience as a Tow Truck Attendant or equivalent.
  • You take pride in your ability to effectively communicate with other workers and members of public and are dedicated to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • You’re prepared to work outside regular working hours (day night works when required) and attend after hour callouts.
  • You hold a current Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) Driver’s Licence with at least 12 months experience.
  • You hold Traffic Controller Cards – Implement Traffic Control Plan and Prepare Work Zone.
  • You have a current First Aid Certificate
  • You have a Construction Industry White Card
  • You have a willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing, training, or ticketing requirements as directed.
