Job summary

The City of Rockingham is seeking a Tourism Development Officer to deliver outstanding visitor servicing through the Mobile Visitor Centre. You will share up-to-date information on Rockingham’s region, attractions and events to meet visitor expectations.

The role focuses on marketing and guiding visitors to leisure opportunities, with weekend shifts and pro‑rata salary for a fixed-term 2-year contract. C-class licence and WA driver’s duties are essential.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of visitor servicing principles through experience, training or education.
• Strong knowledge of Rockingham's tourism offering and products.
• Ability to work autonomously and with a team to achieve outcomes.
• Experience in marketing, tourism and/or customer service is desirable.

Job description

Fixed-term (2-year contract)

Part-time with a minimum of 30 hours per fortnight, (including weekend and public holiday shifts, rostered in advance). As a Tourism Development Officer, you will provide exceptional customer service to visitors to the City of Rockingham, by providing up to date information on the local region, tourism attractions and experiences, as well as details of upcoming events to ensure visitor expectations are met.

You will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Mobile Visitor Centre and in making visitors more aware of the leisure and tourism opportunities available in the region through effective marketing and recommendations.

Experience in marketing, tourism and or customer service roles will be highly regarded, but is not essential. A current Western Australian ‘C’ class driver’s licence and the ability to work weekends and occasional public holidays is essential for this role.

We are offering a gross salary of $94,367 per annum (pro-rata), as well as:

• 12% superannuation with the opportunity to co-contribute up to 5%

This position will be expected to work across a number of sites throughout the year, including key tourism locations and major events (both within and outside of the Rockingham area) during the peak tourism season (spring and summer), and at the City of Rockingham Administration building during the off season (autumn and winter). Applicants must be flexible and available to work in line with the Mobile Visitor Centre operating hours, outlined below.

Mobile Visitor Centre standard operations during spring and summer will be Friday – Sunday, 8.00am – 2.30pm. Additional hours may be scheduled during school holidays, occasional public holidays and events throughout the Perth metropolitan area.
