The Tooling Department at Orora is a vital part of our operations, supporting all our sites across Australia and New Zealand. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a highly respected and critical department within the business. Key Responsibilities

As a Machinist (Tool Maker), you will report to the Engineering Manager, working Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Precision tooling: Work to exact specifications and produce high-quality parts.
  • Operate a range of metalworking equipment, including grinders, jigs, fixtures, manual and CNC machines, to meet precise tolerances.
  • Make, maintain, and repair tools and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Read and interpret drawings.
  • Test and modify manufactured articles.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges.

What We Are Looking For

  • A formal trade qualification in toolmaking or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a toolmaking or machinist role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in operating CNC machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to overcome manufacturing challenges.
  • An eye for detail and a passion for producing high-quality, precise work.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate clearly across teams.
  • A strong commitment to safety and following safe work practices and safety procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the organisation.
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes drug & alcohol testing.
